I’m Back on the Trail Again!

After running the End of Summer 5k, I realized that my training for that race took away from my larger goal of trail running and long distances. The day after the race, I happily hiked my favorite trail– Lone Oak.
Now, my focus is on my upcoming half marathon on October 30th. I believe the course is also on a road but trail running will only make me stronger. Right now, I’m up to 8 miles, so I think I’ll be able to do it.
I’m not sure if I’ll do another 5k. If I do, I won’t train for that specific distance. I want to concentrate un my ultimate goal which is running an ultra marathon. 5k’s are just good for getting into that racing mindset. I think that I’ll stick to half marathons, then a marathon and see how that goes. Once I feel comfortable with the marathon distance, I think I’ll be ready for a 50k.
So, back to the woods I go. I’m going to thoroughly enjoy the fall weather and the sights and sounds of a new season. Happy trail running!
